Chicken Soup for the Soul now makes comfort food! #giveaway

Yes, you read that right! The company that publishes those heart warming, encouraging and comforting story compilations now has a comfort food line! The products in the food line are various food items and recipes that were inspired by actual Chicken Soup for the Soul stories!

As a Chicken Soup for the Soul blogger I was given the opportunity to try out one of the new products from the line. Of course what would be more fitting then the Chicken Soup for the Soul: Chicken Noodle Soup! Right now in NC we have been having some pretty crazy weather. One day it's super hot and the next day it's super cold. My kids don't know what to put on each day so it was only a matter of time before one of them ended up with a cold. :( I don't know about you but when I'm not feeling so great soup is the one thing I adore. As a matter of fact wasn't there a study done that said that Chicken Noodle Soup really does have a positive impact on a cold. Now don't quote me on that one but I think I read it somewhere.

Since my daughter had a cold, and I was worried that I was next on the list, we decided to try out the soup. Lucky for me, the soup is super easy to make and only has 100 calories per serving. Each soup comes in a cute little carton:

that even includes instructions on how to open it:

My Take: It was really simple to fix the soup. Just shake it up, open, pour into a sauce pan and heat. It literally took about 5 minutes. Then it was on to the taste testing. Now I must begin this by saying I have a 4 year old and a 5 year old. They took one bite and one said, "no way" and the other said, "it's okay". Reliable answers? From picky eaters who are used to noodles shaped like Disney characters sure. However, I felt like the adult opinion would be a little more practical. I took my son's bowl and tried it out. First, I love how there were actual chunks or chicken and decent size pieces of carrots and celery. Second, I loved the taste of the broth. Not too salty tasting (even though I must warn you there is quite a bit of sodium in the soup). Finally, it was a nice comforting food. Totally lives up to the Chicken Soup for the Soul name. Downside: There is quite a bit of sodium in a serving which isn't good for me because I have high blood pressure. I also found the soup to need a little seasoning. Now this is just a personal opinion and a little bit of pepper perked it right up for me.
