It's that time of the year again. The cold monster has reared his ugly head and tried to attack my family several times in the past few weeks. Most of the time we just let the kids ride the cold out but that's because they don't have much they need to do. Me, on the other, well, I'm Mommy, Queen of the household. I have to be well enough to cook, clean and transport! LOL
Thanks to Crowdtap, I received a box of Zicam RapidMelts to help combat my colds and a few boxes to give to my friends. I remember hearing friends speak of Zicam when it was a swab that you used up your nose. That just sounded a little too personal and gross to me so I never tried it. However, my friends swore by it! I was so excited to try out a RapidMelt, something that I didn't have to swallow and advertised a great Cherry taste!
So how did it work for me? Well, first let me tell you a little bit more about Zicam's RapidMelts:
That first sniffle, sneeze, cough or ache. You have a Pre-Cold™, the first sign a full-blown monster of a cold is coming. Time for Zicam®, the completely different™ kind of medicine that’s clinically proven to shorten a cold. Rapid Melts are quick dissolve tablets that are non-drowsy and non-habit forming. You take one tablet at the onset of symptoms and then every 3 hours until your symptoms subside. My Take: So how did I like the RapidMelts? Well, I have mixed feelings about them. First, they are way bigger in size than I expected. They are literally the size of the one on the box. That didn't really bother me though. You just pop them in and suck on them. The cherry taste was great. (It also comes in citrus and Lemon Lime).
Did they work? I'm not sure. I took one and then my tummy started to hurt. I read the directions and it said to be sure to take it on a full stomach or you could become nauseous. Well, I had just had lunch so it shouldn't have mattered. Later I ate a small snack and took the second one. I still had the same problem. However, my cold never became a full blown cold! So I'm not sure! I have mixed feelings. It seemed to work but I still had to pay the price of having an upset stomach. Will I try it again? Sure! I'm curious to see if it's just something with me or what! Wish me luck.
