Despite U.S. troop drawdowns in Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands of military members will remain deployed this holiday season, unable to join their families. To make the holiday season easier for those who serve our country, Sears has announced the launch of its fifth annual Heroes at Home Wish Registry program. The Wish Registry allows Americans to give back to the men and women who serve our country by providing the means for them to purchase practical gifts such as clothes, toys and holiday decorations.
...Donations to the Heroes at Home Wish Registry will be accepted in-store or online at sears.com/heroesathome. Sears evenly distributes 100 percent of donations back to military families across the country in the form of a Sears e-gift card, just in time for the holiday shopping season. Sears has raised more than $17 million and helped more than 83,000 families since the Wish Registry launched five years ago. Donations are not tax deductible.I have a personal tie with Sears Heroes at Home. My husband was deployed for two years in a row, 6 months at a time, missing Christmas both years. Where he was deployed the mail wasn't that reliable so I didn't want to send his Christmas gifts. Someone told me about the Wish Registry and I decided to apply. I had heard of it, in fact I had donated money myself the year before and didn't think my family qualified. But that's the good part. Any military family with active duty personnel can apply. Thanks to this awesome program my husband came home to a gift card that he was able to use to get whatever tool he wanted! LOL. It really made his day. So I personally thank Sears for what they do and encourage others to donate! The gift cards are 100% from donations so if you don't donate then the families can't benefit. I plan on donating again this year! For more information check out this heartwarming video!
Remember you have until November 16 to donate! Just head to a store or go online HERE.
