Yes, I'm a mommy of two but before I was a mommy of two I was an educator to many little children. I put all of that to the side for a little while so that I would be able to spend time with the two little additions to my family almost 4 years ago. (Wow! I can't believe it's been that long). However, one thing I have not been able to give up is my love of educating children.
Now that I have children of my own I'm always looking for the latest and greatest way to expose them to new ways of learning. I've always had a love for any new kind of electronic toy or item so when the world started with this whole Augmented Reality (AR) apps and programs I was hooked! I couldn't wait to try them out. The latest for me to try out are the i3D cards from Cypher Entertainment.
I'm sure like me, most people frequent their local Target, whether it be for clothes, toys, food or cleaning supplies. Well, right now, at select Target stores you can purchase the i3D interactive cards. I sometimes forget about the electronics department. That's one place I now know not to neglect. There are a world of fun little accessories for your phone, computer and iPad hidden in the back of the store (well at least in my store)! Just check out some of the fun things I found! If you want to see my entire trip then be sure to check out my google + album.
BUT...back on track. There were also the awesome Learning Cards. I was so excited to see there were three different sets (ABC's, numbers and wild animals) of cards to choose from. My kids are both preschoolers who are really working on number recognition so I decided to go with the numbers set.
First, you have to register at Cypher Kids Club. Then you have to download the app to your iPad, iPhone or other approved device and then you are ready to go. It's pretty simple for even a 3 and 4 year old to use. They just pick a card, match it to the number on the screen, and scan it with the iPad.
Quickly an interactive 3D show comes up on the screen. The one below is about the number 17 and you get to have 17 shells squirt water at the number. It's super cute and the kids loved it!
Now I just know you want to get in on the phone. If you want to learn more about this cool AR app then be sure to check out Cypher Kid's Club on Twitter and Facebook!
