Well, with 100 + degree temps here in NC what better way to celebrate these holidays than with frozen yogurt! My daughter was having a spa party with a few of her friends that day so I decided that they would be the taste testers!
First I had to head out to my local Walmart to get the treats. I'm a big frozen yogurt fan and TCBY (#TCBYGrocery) is now sold in stores so I couldn't wait to grab some. In fact, if you want to know if your store sells TCBY check out TCBYgrocery.com. However, this was a harder task than it seemed. I had two specific flavors I needed. First, TCBY Chocolate Chocolate and second, TCBY Strawberry Swirl. The first Walmart was almost wiped clean of TCBY froyo. Luckily they did have the Strawberry Swirl so I picked up a few pints.
Discouraged I traveled in the heat to the next Walmart which was also almost wiped out of TCBY frozen yogurt novelties. Yes, they also have fudge pops and ice cream sandwiches! Once again lady luck was on my side and they had 3 pints of Chocolate Chocolate left. At least until I got there...HAHAHA! As you can see from my cart, my mind was also racing on another yummy treat I could make that combines these two awesome flavors. If you want to see my whole shopping adventure then check out my Google + album!
I ran home (Froyo still almost melted even though I had it in those freezer bags) and got started. What was I going to make? I found this awesome recipe for Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches that actually called for Strawberry and chocolate ice cream to be used! SCORE! So I made my homemade peanut butter cookies and then filled them with the TCBY yogurt. HINT...yogurt is usually more creamy and smoother than ice cream making it harder to use. I quickly wrapped up the sandwiches and stuck them in the freezer.
While they were freezing I quickly pulled out my special treat. What do you get at the spa? Why champagne, strawberries and chocolate, right!?! Well, in this case it was more of apple juice and strawberries dipped in chocolate. So I quickly made up a batch to share!
Then it was time for the epic battle:
Who will reign supreme?
So how did it go? Just look at the faces! The kids loved everything! Chocolate Chocolate seemed to be the winner with 3 of the little girls and all 4 moms choosing it. However, there were two brave strawberry lovers, one of which was my son! He only ate half and then asked if I could put the rest away for later because he wanted to make sure he would have more!
Now if you want to join in the TCBY frozen yogurt fun, and who wouldn't, then I have some news for you. First there will be a #TCBYGrocery twitter party on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 1:00-2:00PM EST. I love these parties! You get lots of great ideas AND you can win some awesome prizes!
Second, be sure to keep up with TCBY by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
