Review: Twinkle Toes: The Movie

I'm not sure how many of you were aware of this but last Saturday was National Dance Day. I actually missed it myself! I know, a shock. I have always loved dancing (doesn't mean I can do it but I love it). I used to stop whatever I was doing during the day, turn on the iPod and tell the kids, "Dance Break" and we would jam for one song!

Since I missed this awesome holiday we decided to celebrate today by watching Twinkle Toes: The Movie. It was just released today, July 31st on DVD.  My daughter loves to dance so when she saw this one in the mail she freaked out. She couldn't wait to see it. So if you don't know much about the movie here's a quick rundown:
Universal City, California, May 22, 2012 –Inspired by the best-selling SKECHERS Kids footwear line, join Grace “Twinkle Toes” Hastings as she headlines her first-ever, full-length feature film, Twinkle Toes: The Movie, debuting exclusively on DVD on July 31, 2012 from Universal Studios Home Entertainment. Twinkle Toes: The Movie brings all the charm and excitement of the Twinkle Toes brand to the screen in a fun-filled, original film that will have girls dancing out of their seats.  The sweet and adorable Twinkle Toes character that girls have come to know and love overcomes her most secret fears and learns to celebrate her individuality with energy, pizzazz and super-cute shoes!
Filled with music, friendship, laughter and heart, parents and their daughters will want to watch Twinkle ToesThe Movie again and again.  This charming story of courage, self-expression and finding the “sparkle” within will inspire Twinkle Toes’ legions of fashionista friends to develop their own talent and achieve their dreams.

My Take: First, let's talk about the previews. When my daughter realized that this movie was revolving around a pair of Sketcher shoes (there's a commercial in the beginning) she just HAD to have them. She swore that they would make her dance like Twinkle Toes. Second, they weren't kidding when they said your kids would want to watch this one again and again. My kids watched it three or four days in a row. It's not just a movie for little girls because my son loved it too. There are some guy characters who sing and dance in the movie too. Think, High School Musical but for the younger crowd and animated. Finally, the music and the dancing. Yes, I must admit the kids and I had quite a few dance parties while watching the movie. After watching it the third time I was belting out the songs along with the characters, although I must admit my kids weren't too happy about that.

Final thoughts- If you have a kiddo that loves to dance or loves music in general this is the movie for them. It's all about getting the courage and the confidence to be who you are and let yourself shine. It's a great motivational cartoon and I'm sure it will be on our favorites list for the next few months!

Clip: Of course I couldn't leave you without a taste of some of the awesome dancing from the movie:

And just for the fun of it, I have a great little coloring page for you to print out and let your kiddos decorate. Just click below to print it!
