The latest Scooby Doo Laff-a-lympics is appropriately subtitled Spooky Games. When I hear Scooby- Doo I think spooky. My son says he thinks of fruit snacks (that used to be his favorite ones) and bones. Go Figure! Now if you don't know about the Laff-a-lympics, here's your crash course synopsis:
Let the fun and games begin! Scooby-Doo! and the gang are off to compete at the World Invitational Games in the all-new 22-minute episode Spooky Games! And there’s no shortage of spookiness – the gang’s fun gets sidetracked when a 1,000-year-old statue comes to life and threatens the entire event! Will the games go on? The high jinks continue with world-hopping episodes of Hanna-Barbera’s competitive classic Scooby’s All-Star Laff-A-Lympics! Three teams enter, and all fun breaks loose! Grab a seat as the Scooby Doobies, the Yogi Yahooeys and the Really Rottens get ready, get set, and get into more eccentric events! From bullfights to mountain climbing, roller skating to leprechaun hunting, trek the globe to catch all of the animated antics! Special guest stars abound, including Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble. This collection is a sure shot to take the gold!My Take: I personally grew up watching the Laff-a-lympics. I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It was the cartoon Olympics! I guess my only problem was there were bad guys in the Laff-a-lympics so when we watched the real Olympics we always wanted to know who the bad guys were...LOL. So of course I was expecting the same thing from this DVD. However, I got a big surprise. My kids have been watching the latest version of Scooby Doo on TV. Of course the characters are the same but the graphics are more modern. I was so excited to see the very first feature was a brand new Olympic themed episode featuring the modern characters. The kids loved it. It didn't have all our old favorites like Scrappy Doo or the Really Rottens but it was still great! Another thing I loved was there were two DVDs with a total of 13 episodes! Can you say perfect for a road trip. As a matter of fact we're going to use it on a trip we're taking this weekend!
