May is for Moms: Guylian Belgian Chocolates!

The past few years I avoided being traditional with my Mother's Day Gift Guide. For one thing, we all celebrate Mother's Day in different ways. Normally I don't get to do too much because my husband is usually deployed or getting ready to deploy and we're busy getting our household in order. So instead of just picking one day to celebrate we celebrate the whole month or pick our own Mom's Day. As a matter of fact, this year I'm celebrating Mom's Day by running a 5k race! How unorthodox is that?

However, I'm still a mom and I still have my mommy around. Which means that I'll be hunting for some Mother's Day gifts soon. And what's one things that mommy loves? Chocolate!
Now like most women, I want to stray from the usual boxed chocolates that your hubby usually gets you and go for something a little more decadent. What is more decadent than truffles? A nice crisp chocolate shell filled with smooth, creamy truffle! And what better truffle company to share than Guylian Belgium Chocolates.

Guylian “ultra-indulgent” luxurious chocolate seashells are 100% pure, silky smooth, dark and white Belgian Chocolate and are filled with rich, decadent creamy chocolate praline truffle. The original signature truffle recipe is still made in small-batch copper kettles exclusively by Guylian’s Master Chocolatiers in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium. The chocolates are imported from Belgium to ensure wonderful quality, taste and a true chocolate experience.
My Take: I can already tell you that Guylian loves moms and they love to share their treats with us. Check out this amazing review package they sent me:
That is waaay to much chocolate for one woman. I don't think you would be able to handle me if I ate all of that! However, here are my thoughts. You knew I was going to try them out, right!? I chose one of the small sampler packs of two. It contained two cute little sea horse shaped chocolates. I'm a big fan of white chocolate so of course I was happy about that. It was dipped or drizzled or perfectly covered with yummy chocolate. Then you take a bite. It's a nice crisp little shell with this smooth creamy chocolate praline truffle inside. Divine, I tell you! I personally love to eat my chocolate with a nice glass or red wine or Moscato.

What's cool about Guylian is that they even have a page on their website devoted to the perfect drink pairings for each of their chocolates! For example, having a Belguim handcrafted ale with a Guylian belgium chocolate. Who would have thought of pairing a beer with a chocolate!?! If you want to see more unique pairings then check them out HERE.

Buy it: Guylian chocolates can be purchased throughout the states in specialty candy stores, Walmart and TJ Maxx (seasonal only).

  1. I rarely want things, but I crave a nice, lazy day doing whatever I want to do on my own schedule. Oh, and not having to cook! The gift of a day off would be so nice.

  6. My mom would probably love to see her three children come together on that day, this usually doesn't happen as we live across the country from one another. And chocolates would be a wonderful addition to that family gathering! lol
