Review: Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire

My kids are super big fans of Scooby-Doo! Not only do we own several DVDs but we also DVR the episodes (original ones, new ones, and even the ones when Scooby was a pup) almost every day! I'm surprised they aren't Scoobied out! LOL. I personally am a big fan of musicals or shows with singing...AKA...Glee. Yes, I'm a Gleek! So when I heard that Scooby-Doo was releasing a new original movie on March 13, 2012 that was the very first Scooby-Doo musical then I just knew we had to see it!

"Get set for big laughs, good times and cool tunes with the Scooby-Doo gang as they travel to the super spooky parts of the Deep South for the Vampire-Palooza Festival. The event kicks off with good fun and lots of tasty Southern snacks, but it’s not long before the festivities are interrupted by a real vampire who threatens the townsfolk and tries to take Daphne for his vampire bride! Packing a little garlic never hurt anyone, except a vampire, and so the gang sets out to investigate. Could the culprit be the descendant of a famous vampire hunter who is trying to sell his book? Or is it the festival’s owner, who is trying to use vampire lore to promote the fair? Maybe it’s the festival’s traveling musical troupe, whose very handsome lead singer is taking his vampire role just a little too seriously? Things get more complicated when Shaggy, believing he’s been bit by a vampire, decides to hide from his friends in the swamp, but his loyal friend Scooby-Doo will not abandon him. And when Daphne goes missing, can Fred and Velma bring everyone together to prevent her from becoming the vampire queen? Everything culminates in a not-to-be-missed song-filled showdown in the swamp!"
My Take: My kids enjoyed this movie. It wasn't exactly their favorite Scooby-Doo movie but they did sit and watch the whole thing. I thought they would love the music and singing but I think it was a little too much for their attention span. I, however, enjoyed watching the movie and listening to the songs. It was so cute to see Shaggy singing to his best friend Scooby or the joint choruses of the angry townspeople and the vampire musical troupe! It kept me entertained the whole time!

Buy it: The Blu Ray combo pack and the standard DVD copies are available in stores starting today, March 13 for the prices of $24.98 and $19.98 respectively. And in case you need a little persuading, check out the clip HERE!
