Couponing for Good with #AllYouCFK

If you read my blog then you know that this year I have been involved with a great organization that is all about giving back and supporting children in need. The organization is Champions for Kids and each month they pair up with a company and provide guidelines for "SIMPLE service projects" that you, me or anyone can complete. These service projects are always geared towards putting on a smile on someone in need. In December, I participated by creating a stocking to share with two little girls who were otherwise unable to celebrate Christmas. In January, I helped out by donating nutritional snacks to our local foodbank which were then distributed to school children in need with their Backpack program.

This month I'm pleased to say that I am participating once again by donating items using one of my favorite past times. COUPONING! Yep! Like many SAHMs I realized the importance of finding ways to supplement income or shortcuts to make life easier and of course cheaper. One of those ways was by couponing. I've been clipping coupons for the past two years and I'm actually getting quite good at it. I even get together once a month with a few of my girlfriends and we do a coupon swap! So of course this project was right up my alley.

Champions for Kids has partnered with one of my favorite magazines, All You, to encourage people to use coupons to get great deals on items to donate to children in need. This can be children at a school, shelter, home, anywhere. You choose! Personally, I already have a three year subscription to All You magazine and use it not only for the awesome coupons (usually $50 or more in coupons in each issue) but also for the great frugal articles and recipes!

I also knew the perfect organization to benefit from my donation. My local MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) took up donations in January for a non-profit pregnancy support center that is ran completely on donations. The organization is the Agape Pregnancy Support Center and it is ran by volunteers. I contacted them through their Facebook page to see what items they were in need of. They responded with any donations are welcome but they were really in need of items for baby layettes (baskets) that they gave to moms after they gave birth. I was so excited. I looked through the All You magazine but there weren't many coupons for baby items. So of course I turned my resourceful couponing self to the internet and printed off tons of coupons for diapers, baby wash, and other baby items. I then grabbed my coupon stash and headed to Walmart.

An hour later I came back with enough goodies to overflow a basket, along with saving over $10 on my purchases! As you can see from the picture below I have a pretty impressive donation to make! You can see my entire shopping experience in my google + album.  I can't wait to share this with the Agape Pregnancy Support Center. Stay tuned for my next post all about my actual donation experience. And if you want to become involved check out the Champions for Kids website, and/or follow them on Twitter and Facebook.
