Black History Month!

Yes it's Black History Month. This is the second year that I've been writing on my blog and I don't think I've ever written anything about Black History Month. It's one of those things that is mentioned once or twice in school and then you never hear anything else. Well, my kids are bi-racial (black and white) and I want them to experience and learn about both sides of their heritage. So I jumped on the computer this morning and started looking for some Black History Month activities.

My kids are young so I decided to start simple. I found some great coloring pages to print out. Sure they won't really understand the story about each historical figure but at least I'm exposing them to the names and the pictures. That way, when they get in school they will recognize the person they are learning about. And of course I have a link to the coloring pages so you can print them out and share them with your kiddos! Just click on the image of Rosa Parks to go to the site. You do have to register for access to the printables but they only ask for an email. There are 13 different pages available! Each Wednesday this month I will be sharing a new activity. I missed last week so I am posting the coloring sheets today and then I will have another activity tomorrow! Stay tuned and enjoy coloring!
