Celebrating my local heroes on #Veteran's Day with #murphyusa!

I have the honor of being a servicemember's wife so I know what kind of struggles military families go through first hand. I also know how important it is to recognize all that our service members do for our country so I was thrilled to be a part of a shop that celebrates our military! My mission was to head to my local Murphy USA and purchase Coca Cola, King Size candy bars and other goodies as a treat for some of my local heroes. I guess I should first explain who my local heroes are. They actually are my neighbors. Being a military family we basically live in a military community where our spouses are deployed at various times of the year. Currently my husband is deployed and when he is deployed I basically think of myself as a single mommy. And I can always use a male around the house...LOL. Luckily I have some awesome neighbors. The two that I chose to receive these treat bags are my "handymen". One cuts my grass and the other helps me with any heavy lifting that I have to do around the house. I don't know what I would do without them! The other two to receive the treats are currently deployed. It's my husband and my other neighbor.

So my trip to Murphy USA started out like any other. This time I didn't need any gas but I still peeked and saw that the gas prices were cheaper than most. Note to self: head back in a few days to fill up the tank!

Inside I was excited as usual to see all the deals advertised. I must say that Murphy USA does a great job of advertising! I made sure to pick up some Coca Cola, the King size candy bars and even some coffee for myself. I must add that all these deals were highly visible with bright signs and if you're a frugal mommy like me you can't pass up a good deal! If you want to see my complete shop be sure to check out my google + Veteran's Day Shop Photo Album!

When I came home I couldn't wait to put my packages together. I had a ton of great stuff and I couldn't wait to make them cute. However, I was disappointed when I went to deliver my treats. No one was home. One thing about federal holidays. The military usually gets a four day weekend out of the deal and since we never really get to spend time with our families we take advantage of any time to leave and be with them. So unfortunately, I just left the bags on one doorstep (they were coming back later today) and will wait until tomorrow to deliver the last one. =( I can't wait to see what they think! =) I made sure to leave a little personal note attached! I'll be sure to post pictures of the worthy recipients!

If you want to check out the latest and greatest deals from Murphy USA be sure to follow them on facebook and Twitter. They are constantly posting promotions and cool coupons in both places. Trust me, I always check...LOL.

  1. I think it is pretty amazing that you went out of your like that. Shows what a generous and loving spirit you have. As a military spouse and veteran myself, thank you for being so supportive to our troops!

  2. Thank you and your husband for your that you thought of those people who help you when he's gone....that is amazing.:)

  3. Treat bags! Ingenious. I just took a sack full of stuff to my local Firefighters. HA! It takes a special kind of woman to be a military spouse. My husband is a restaurant manager who works 80-100 hours/week and I am MENTAL. I don't know how I'd do with my husband being gone for months on end.
