Life with no A/C or heat...when you need them both!

Yes, this is going to be a sad post. It's all about my recent struggles with the A/C and heat in my new, yes "new construction" house. Sit back, grab you some kleenex and listen to my tale of woe!

Last weekend it decided to get a little chilly in NC. Sure, it wasn't cold but I'm cold natured and whenever it get's below 70 then I need some heat! The rental house we lived in before had the heat stop working right after we moved in, so of course I decided to test the heat out here. Now, mind you, the heat worked last year when we moved into the house so I expected it to work again this year. HAHAHA! I turn it on, and nothing happens. And I do mean nothing.

of course it was the weekend so I couldn't call anyone. Luckily, the weather turned out to be a comfortable 70+ and we were fine without heat. On Monday morning I called and someone came out to fix it. (Actually I called multiple times had all these warranty issues and then a really nice man came out to fix it). So he got the heat to work and told me that I needed to change my filters. So I climbed on the ladder and changed all three filters and decided to turn the heat off because it was starting to get hot again.

Later that night it's so hot about 77 in my house so I decide to turn on the air. Flip the switch and nothing happens!! I wake up Tuesday and call and they send the same guy out and he messes around and then tells me that the thing is basically dead! YEP! DEAD! It's not even a year old and it's dead! Now, we're patiently waiting, in the heat, for someone to finally come out and put in the new A/C today. Needless to say, it's back into the 80s here and it was a miserable night. The kids slept in my room and I put on the fan. So if I seem pretty sporadic and slack this week it's because I've been dealing with getting this thing fixed! WISH ME LUCK! I'll keep you updated!

  1. Isn't home owning a joy? I am so glad you are still under warranty! Nobody needs an unexpected cost and inconvenience like that!

  2. Good luck! So sorry! I'm thankful ours is working, as it's been record high temps here! 107 degrees yesterday! I'm like you, under 70 and I'm chilly! LOL!
    Hope it's fixed soon!!
