#theicecreamsocial at Walmart!!!

Remember how I told you about the Walmart Ice Cream Social? Well, since I knew it was going to be a busy weekend I decided to wake up that morning and call Walmart to get an exact time on the event. My family loves ice cream. We have to keep it in stock in our house. I mean it's been so hot this year it's the perfect cool you down treat! Unfortunately, when I called, the manager informed me that they didn't know anything about an event. I was a little discouraged but we decided that we would head on out to Walmart around 5:30pm (the time that was posted everywhere else) to see if we could score a free treat.

In case you missed my post earlier this week, Walmart's Bright Ideas Station was hosting an in-store demo of one of Nestle's newest ice cream treats, the Lil Drums! These are miniature versions of the popular drumsticks! So we headed out to Walmart around 5:30pm with my fingers crossed that the ice cream station would be there. Sure enough, when we walked in the door, (our frozen section is near the door) there were kids running around with Lil Drums! Unfortunately, Walmart was so packed I didn't have time to get my camera out before the kids dashed towards the commotion. We figured the station had to be down one of the frozen aisles so off we went. When we saw it at the end of one of the aisles my husband and daughter shot off as I tried to get out the camera...LOL

We were a little confused because the two flavors were just sitting out on the table with no one handing them out. That was because the demo lady was too busy trying to open more boxes. There wasn't a line but as soon as she put 12 out, 12 disappeared.....LOL.

I chose the  chocolate with chocolate swirls.  There are 6 total flavors. I was really hoping they would have the caramel. I'm a caramel freak! I LOVE IT! However, I personally thought the one I tried was super yummy! My kids also loved them! They were the perfect size! They were able to finish the whole cone without my husband or I finishing it up for them. Sure saves me from gaining more weight! There also weren't a lot of nuts on top. That's the one thing my little one hates. As for my husband, he was a little disappointed. He thought ice cream social meant they were going to fix us our own cones using Nestle products. He also hated the size of the drums. We usually get the normal drumsticks and all he could say was, " It only took me three bites to eat it"! All I could do was laugh!

We also had some more shopping to do..like get some dinner food. We're big fans of Walmart's ready to bake pizzas so we grabbed one of those and some breadsticks. I also had a few other things I needed but after battling all the people we just grabbed a few more things and ran out. Overall, it was super fun and worth the free ice cream! With the price of less than $5, I think I'll be running back next week to pick up some lil drums for my kiddos...when it's not packed, that is!

Disclosure: This shop/project has been compensated as part of a campaign for Nestlé. All ideas and opinions expressed are my own.
