#Bagitforward with #Elmers and #walmart

When I was a school counselor I was the director/organizer of the school supplies. I was in charge of collecting them and then distributing them to the students in need. It was one of my favorite parts of the job. I loved putting together back packs, pencil cases and other school supplies that the kids needed. It was so awesome to see their little faces when I had them called to my office and I handed them their goodies! It was priceless. So when I found out about the Bag It Forward Program I couldn't wait to participate.

First let me tell you a little bit about the program. It's a program started by Elmer's(you know, the glue) along with 50 bloggers who go out and buy school supplies and donate them to charities or other students/children in need. This program started around this time last year and we have just started it up again this year. I'm super happy to be participating this year!

Now on to my shop. since I am no longer working in the school system I've been having withdrawls from helping out students in need. I know that may sound weird but that's what my job was all about. The past few years I have been personally buying school supplies and donating them to local schools. Well last year my mom volunteered to be the coordinator of the back to school supply drive at her church. They collect school supplies from church members and then donate them to the local schools in her hometown. She's the coordinator again this year and just happened to be visiting me when I found out I would be doing this shop! Perfect timing! I needed to get school supplies for my daughter (who is going to part time preschool) and some to donate!

So what did I buy? I'm an educator so I LOVE to buy school supplies. Here's a picture and my list:
  • 4 pencil cases
  • 4 rulers
  • two pairs of scissors
  • 2 large index cards
  • 2 small lined index cards
  • 1 Elmer's clear glue
  • 3 Elmer's school Glue
  • 1 pack of pencil top erasers
  • 2 packs of colored pencils
  • 6 packs of crayons
  • 6 packs of pencils
  • 3 packs of loose leaf paper
  • 5 notebooks
Grand Total: Less than $30! and it's enough supplies for several kids

Then here's what I bought for the big preschooler and me:

Grand Total: less than $25!

This was so much fun! I loved packing up all the school supplies and giving them to my mom to take back with her. I can't wait until she takes them to the school. I told her to take pictures so I could post them later. Do you want to join in? It's quite simple. Just head on out, buy some school supplies, donate them and then head over to Bag It Forward and upload a picture of what you donated! Super simple, right? And it makes you feel good too!
