To Jump or Not to Jump- the quest for a coffee table

So we have a new house. This new house has a large living room. The large living room has two couches and a chair. What doesn't it have? A coffee table! I couldn't tell you the last time I had a coffee table in my house. I would say not since I've been married and especially none after we had kids.

Why you ask? Well I'll tell you why. I have a 3 year old and 2 year old that are extreme daredevils! They will jump off of, climb up, destroy everything! I just can't bring myself to buy a coffee table knowing that my kids will jump all over it, draw on it, or scratch it up. It just doesn't seem like it would be worth it. Yet, I'm a new homeowner, I love to buy things for my new  house and I'm always shopping online! Of course I've been looking at coffee tables. I just can't help it. Check out a few of my favorites:

The first two are my favorites. I just don't know which color I like the best. I love how it becomes so multi-functional. Perfect for a multi-tasker like me. I can just see myself storing away things in that little hideaway...especially when guests come over. That was why it was created, right? The last one seems like the best idea for our family. We have so many magazines and books that it would be easy to stash a few there for the kids to read instead of them lying all over my floor!

I'm sure I could list many more. However, if you notice I didn't pick any with glass tops. Even though we don't plan on buying a table until the kids are older I can't help but look for tables that the kids can't ruin or get hurt on. Oh, the life of a mother. Anyone else have any suggestions for good and safe coffee tables?? =)
