Review & Giveaway: Old Mother Hubbard Baking Co. Dog Treats!

So lately, and I'm happy to announce this, I've been getting the opportunity to post more reviews on products for pets! I love my dog Dusty and he gets so happy when the UPS or FedEx people come that it is only fair that he gets some of the goodies sometimes. I think his favorite goodies are the ones he can eat! He just somehow knows that it's for him when they come. My smart little pup! Gotta love him!

So my latest find is Old Mother Hubbard Baking Company. I bet you didn't know that Old Mother Hubbard made dog treats. Well, she should after not having anything to give to that pup in the nursery rhyme! Don't worry, this company more than makes up for that! Before I tell you about the treats and how much my doggy loves them let me tell you a little more about the company.

Old Mother Hubbard Baking Company began baking in Gloucester, MA around 1926. The recipe came from what I like to call "people" food. It was originally a treat for sailors but like many pet owners, we like to share our food with our dogs. so this sailor threw this wholesome, all natural treat to his dog who ate it up!

Old Mother Hubbard continues to build on this tradition today baking a wide variety of naturally delicious snacks for dogs. They start with, all-natural ingredients including: chicken, cheddar cheese, apples, carrots, sweet potatoes and oatmeal (sounds yummy to me). Then then slowly oven-bake every snack to preserve the natural flavors in all the varieties dogs love to catch, chew and eat.

There are six categories of Old Mother Hubbard treats (classic, mother's solutions, distinctive snacks, mini & training- all crunchy and then the soft and chewy mother's solutions and mini & training). There is a little something for every dog. And you can find the perfect treat for your dog by using the product selector! I put in my choices and over 16 selections came up for my dog. Now that's an amazing variety of treats!

My Take: Dusty received three different treats to try out. They were the Extra Tasty Assortment from the Classic line, the Skin and Coat (soft and chewy) from the Mother's Solutions line and the Bitz from the soft and chewy line. What a great assortment!

Now what did Dusty think of these treats? It might help to let you know that he is sitting at my feet right now as I type this because I took out the treats to make sure I got all the names right. Yes, let me pause and give him some treats. I'm not even sure which is his favorite. He's a big doggy so he usually goes for the crunchy stuff. I like to mix the treats with his food. This pup is so smart he will dig through and take out all the treats and leave the food! Check out pics of him eating them up:

My only issue with the treats were the size. Granted I didn't say what size my dog was and he is a super big dog. I just wasn't sure how many treats to give him because they are tiny! I think it would help to have a suggested feeding amount on the back of the bags. I've seen this on other dog treats. Overall, I am more than pleased to give these to Dusty. First, he likes them. Second, they are reasonably priced. And third, they are all natural and good for him!

Buy it: Old Mother Hubbard Baking Company dog treats can be purchased at pet stores nationwide including Pet Smart and Petco! Prices vary from $1.99- $11.99 depending on size and variety of the product.

Win it: One lucky reader is going to win the same three varieties of treats that I reviewed (all pictured above). This giveaway will begin on June 6 and end on June 21. It is open to the US only. The winner will be chosen via random.org and notified by email.

I'm really excited to be testing out this new giveaway form with you guys! I would love to hear any feedback you might have! And GOOD LUCK!
