Review: George Foreman Grill- Knock out the Fat

I have been using a George Foreman grill since college. I mean, it was simple and affordable; not to mention it was then and still is one of the most popular graduation gifts. All you do is plug it in and you can grill up almost anything from chicken to grilled cheese sandwiches!!

But did you know how healthy a George Foreman grill actually can be? I know you can always see all the gross fat that leaks out while you are cooking but I never really thought about it. I figured that it just let me know that my meat was really getting cooked...hehehe. And I guess I'm not the only one who concentrated on the ease of using the George Foreman grill. That's why George Foreman grills has a new little bit of information to share with you:

New results of independent testing show that the George Foreman Grill removes up to 42% of fat from quarter-pound burgers made with 80/20 ground chuck beef, translating to a reduction of approximately 89 calories per burger!
Now for a family like mine that is striving to lose some weight (well my husband and I are) that's some great news!
My Take: Thanks to the Family Review Network and George Foreman Grills I was sent a George Foreman GRP4B Next Grilleration™ Removable Plate Grill (pictured above) to test the Knock out the Fat campaign. Now first about this grill. I love it. The plates are removable. You don't have to sit there and worry about keeping your whole machine dry so you don't ruin it. Instead you are able to snap off the top and bottom plates and wash them in your sink! How easy!
Now on to the test (and photos). First, we were out of ground beef so I sent my husband to get some. He ended up getting 93% lean beef which is supposed to be super lean with little fat. I figured we'll see what result we get with it. So I made up about 7 or 8 patties (with Worcestershire sauce and seasonings) and got to grilling. One low point was it took forever for the grill to heat up. However, once I got the burgers in they started cooking right up. Ok I know it doesn't look that great in the picture but it smelled awesome. And just look at the fat dripping!
After the burgers were complete I was astonished. I only cooked a 1.5 of beef and I figured there would be only a little bit of fat, however, the whole drip container was full! Just check out the picture! I can't believe it! And we thought we were getting the healthiest meat! Guess it can always be healthier and thanks to George Foreman grills it was!
Buy it: The George Foreman GRP4B Next Grilleration™ Removable Plate Grill retails for $49.99 on the George Foreman site. There are also several other grills to choose from. We also have the Evolve Grill which I LOVE!
