Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I

Yes, I admit it. I'm a big Harry Potter fan. I read all the books and then I started watching AND buying all the movies. Well, until I had kids. Then I started to get a little behind. I used to be the first to go see the new movies when they came out but then I missed the last two because my kids were just too young. (I know, no real excuse). However, now I'm caught up thanks to my latest review. I was so excited to see the recently released (April 15) Blu-Ray combo pack.

This first part of the final book in the Harry Potter series follows Harry Potter and his two best friends, Hermoine and Ron on there quest to find the elusive Horcruxes and destroy them before Lord Voldemort takes over the wizarding world.

My Take: This movie is wonderful. We recently bought a Blu Ray player so I was super excited to watch it on our new player. This movie was like a wild roller coaster ride. The graphics are great, the acting is supreme and it is very close to the actual book itself. I can see why the movie was split into 2 parts because the book is almost 1000 pages long! I was seriously on the edge of my seat! I love watching all the magic scenes, like when there are suddenly multiple Harry Potters or when Hermoine repairs an injury on Ron. I don't want to give away too much you really should see this movie. However, I do not recommend that children under the age of 8 watch this movie. It is a little graphic and there are some fighting scenes.

BUT here are some things I can mention. The 3 disc Blu-ray combo pack includes:
  • sneak peek of a scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2
  • Maximum Movie Mode- Join host Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy) and other cast members on an interactive journey through Part I
  • The Seven Harrys- How Daniel Radcliffe recreated the personalities of the different Harrys
  • The Wizarding World of Harry Pottery Promotional Trailer- awesome new theme park ride
  • Additional Scenes
  • Standard DVD
  • Digital Copy of the feature film
  • and lots more!!

  1. I never got into Harry Potter in the past, but I'm getting really into it now!

  2. I loved the movie too. My husband, however thought it was too long and drawn out...he's a little impatient about his entertainment. :) I also like the way the actors matured a lot since the earlier movies.
