I have the worse time finding something for my kids to eat in the morning...healthy or otherwise. they just aren't breakfast kids. So I was excited when The Family review Network and Seneca Farms gave me the opportunity to review their newest creation- Fruit and Oatmeal in quick and easy little microwavable cups. First here's some staggering data to share with you:

- While 71% of U.S. adults agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, 67% of those admit to skipping breakfast.- ME AGAIN!
Wow! Shocking, right? What's worse is I see myself in those stats even though I know the saying, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day"!
Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit – launched on April 4 at Wal-Mart – is the perfect choice for anyone who has trouble finding time for breakfast in the morning. In less time than it takes to make a cup of coffee, heat the six-ounce microwaveable cup – no milk or water necessary – in the microwave for 45 seconds. Seneca's Oatmeal & Fruit has no trans fats or cholesterol, and is a great source of Vitamin C. Two initial flavors are being introduced – Apple Cinnamon and Vanilla Peach. My Take: We received a four pack of both flavors to try out. I'm not much on Vanilla so I decided to share that one with a friend and her family. Now on the other hand I am a big fan of Apple and Cinnamon oatmeal so I was excited to try it out! I threw it in the microwave for the 45 sec. (warning if you have one of those quick hearing microwaves like mine you probably don't need to leave it in there that long). and then was ready to eat. Of course when you have kids, that's a joke. My son immediately wanted to try it out. However, Mr. Picky didn't like it. He's only 2 so that was no surprise. However, my big girl who eats almost everything also didn't like it. SO then I decided to give it a try. At first I was surprised at the consistency, one thing about instant oatmeal is that you can get it to the exact consistency you want. This was a little too runny for my taste. Second, when I took a bite I was overwhelmed with sweetness. For some, kids especially, that's a good thing. However, in my family we don't really like a lot of sweet things so it wasn't my cup of tea. I did like that there were actual pieces of fruit in the oatmeal. That's always a nice surprise. And I did like that the cup was the perfect serving size for one person and didn't get so extremely hot that you couldn't eat out of it.
Would I recommend this? Of course. It wasn't my family's favorite but it does meet the standards it set. Is it quick and easy to fix? Yes, I had breakfast fixed for everyone in less than 5 minutes. Is it healthy? Yes, just look at the nutrition table on the package. Is it sweet? Yep! Just a little too sweet for me though!
