Review & Giveaway: Cracker Barrel Cheese

Now that we have a new house I LOVE to entertain. I couldn't wait to throw a wine and cheese party when I got my cheese board set and cheese from Cracker Barrel and the Family Review Network. Unfortunately the day I planned the party was this past Saturday, the same day the tornadoes hit North Carolina. A few tornadoes actually touched down 10 minutes from where I live but fortunately we weren't hit. The most we had to endure was no power for 19 hours. So today, my family decided to try out our kit! But first, here's a bit about Cracker Barrel:

First, Cracker Barrel is produced by one of my most favorite companies Kraft Foods! I love all their stuff! Second, it's a cheese and I love cheese! The kit we received included the  2011 US Championship Cheese winner- the Extra Sharp Cheddar. This contest was held in Green Bay, WI March 8-10, 2011. What a perfect place to hold a cheese contest! =)

We also received an awesome cutting board kit with our cheese. At first I was a little surprised. It looked like a regular old circle cutting board. My husband, who thinks everything has to be amazing or it's just not worth it, asked," is that it?". I told him it was perfectly fine and picked it up and noticed that the top slid. Lo and behold the top slides open and hidden conveniently inside were four cheese cutting utensils! How awesome!! Check out my pictures below.

My Take: As I mentioned before I was planning on having a wine and cheese party with my new kit but due to the weather I was unable to do so. Included with my kit was a paper with the Cracker Barrel cheeses and what wines and beers could be paired with them. I was excited to see that the Extra Sharp Cheddar could be paired with Cabernet Sauvignon or a cider. Lucky me I had a cider beer in the refrigerator. So of course I cut me a few slices, put out some Ritz crackers and popped open my drink. WOW! This cheese is amazing. Have you ever heard someone say that cheese is like butter? Well, they must have been eating Cracker Barrel cheese. It was so smooth and creamy and it had just the right kick. When you paired it with the beer it was a great hot day treat! My kids couldn't resist trying it for themselves. Check it out! It was a little too strong for my son but my daughter the cheese lover ate it right up!

Buy it: Cracker Barrel can be purchased in 8 different varieties for the SRP of $4.39 for a 10oz package. That's a great price when you consider the average specialty cheeses run up to $1.00 per oz! The cheeses can be purchased from local grocery stores and specialty stores across the country.

Win it: One lucky person is going to get the chance to win the same kit that I reviewed. It includes the 10oz package of the Extra Sharp Cheddar along with the cutting board kit. This giveaway is open to the US only. It will begin on April 19 and end on April 29. Yep a quick one! The winner will be chosen via random.org and notified by email. They will then have 24 hours to respond before another winner is chosen.

Mandatory Entry: Tell me what kind of party you would throw with your cheese kit!

  1. Great review! I went searching for cheese after I read it. We've actually gotten the cracker barrel cheeses before and they are very good. I doubt the cheese would survive in my house long enough to throw a party so I'm going to say and Toddlers and Cheese Party.

  15. I'd have a dry party :) I can't drink, so ... it would just be cheese & crackers. My MIL loves cheese and it would be fun to serve her some of this extra sharp cheese.
