Oh how I love PEEPS and oh how I love SocialMoms for asking this awesome question. They want to know what is my most memorable experience with the lovable candy PEEPS. First, I have to tell you about what PEEPS are in case you don't know. If you don't then please don't tell me. It will hurt my feelings...LOL. PEEPs are these awesome little marshmallow candies in the shape of Easter symbols (usually rabbits, baskets, chicks, and eggs) that are covered with this super yummy crystallized sugar in awesome pastel colors. if you eat them slowly you are sure to have sticky hands as the sugar and marshmallow melt on you. YUMMY!! Everyone loves PEEPS!
Now back to my most memorable moment with PEEPS! Well, where do I begin. Growing up we never really had a lot of PEEPS in our Easter baskets so my mom didn't know that I really loved them. Instead, we had every other candy in the world. BUT if I got a package of PEEPS I was thrilled. I would hide them and then when I was alone I would take one out and begin my ritual. I would bite off the one bunny ear and suck off the sugar and then eat the marshmallow. The process would continue with me slowly dissecting the PEEP until it was all gone. And what made it worse was that I only would eat the rabbits! Mom just assumed it was because I loved rabbits.
So later in life, I'm talking about 10 years ago, I tell my mom the story of the PEEPS. She tells me that she never realized that I loved them so much. SO, that Easter I got every single kind of PEEPS imagniable in every color there was! OMG! I'm the only one who eats PEEPS so there was no way I could eat them all. Instead I shared them with all my friends. NOW, no fail, every Easter and every other holiday if my mom can find PEEPS then I'm going to get them. It's crazy! I'm surprised I haven't tired out of them yet...LOL
Thanks to my friend Caren over at Making Ends Meet, I have a new way to eat PEEPS. She suggests that you stick them in the freezer and eat them frozen. I have yet to try this one but I can't wait! Not only is it a nice summer treat but it also makes your PEEPS last longer. Has anyone else tried this one? Does anyone else have any cool ways to eat PEEPS? I found a recipe for a PEEPS cake that I will be sharing later next week in honor of Easter. I can't wait to try it out!!
