I love being a Purex Insider and part of that job is getting to review some awesome Purex products. The last product I reviewed, the Purex Complete Crystals was a big hit in my house! I've even bought a few more bottles. The only problem I had was it is a little too strong for my little one who has sensitive skin. That's why I was super excited to try out this latest product from Purex in the Free and Clear Form!
Purex complete with Zout combines the proven performance of Purex detergent with the triple-enzyme stain-fighting power of Zout stain remover. So what does that mean? It works really hard to get those stains out that your children get in their clothes and to get those clothes super clean and smelling good!
How does it work? Purex Complete with Zout uses 3 powerful stain-fighting enzymes: protease- fights protein based stains (grass, blood); amylase- fights starchy stains (chocolate, tomato sauce); and mannanase- fights guar, what?, thickener in many foods (ice cream, BBQ sauce, salad dressing).
My Take: OK now that we have the logistics out of the way, time for the true test. Does it work? I received a bottle of the Free & Clear Purex Complete with Zout. I specifically requested this formula because I have a son with skin sensitivities and I just switched from using Dreft detergent to "big boy" detergents. However, detergents with added perfumes usually irritate his skin. That's why I was super excited to try out a product that was tough on stains but gentle for his skin!
Now I must say there were two ways I wanted to try this detergent. First I wanted to use it on their regular wash, which I did. Of course, I had no complaints just as I expected. The clothes came out nice and clean just like any of the other detergents I used. Second I wanted to try it on a tough stain, which isn't too hard to do when you have kids. HOWEVER, my husband got to the laundry before me (when does that ever happen)?!? I had some clothes that had icing on them and some with some marker stains. I wanted to take pictures to show how well the stains were or were not removed. Well, that didn't happen! He did remember to use the Purex and the clothes DID come out super clean. There was a faint trace of the marker on one pair of shorts (but I didn't get to pretreat it like I wanted to! So now I'm super excited to try this experiment again but using the pre-treating method where you pour the Purex directly on the stain, rub it in, and then wait 5 minutes before putting it into the washer.
