So my three year old is learning her ABC's. Not only is she learning to say them but she is also learning to write them! Her two favorite things to do are write her name and read books. Unfortunately sometimes she thinks it's a great idea to "write her name" in her books. If only there was a way to combine the two!!
Well, with Doodlemark there is!! The DoodleMark is a new kind of bookmark that allows kids and parents to interact with books together, like never before! Whether practicing sight words together, working on vocabulary, drawing letters, bookmarking their progress or just doodling a funny picture - its all about creative learning and having fun.
Kids love to clip a DoodleMark to any book and let their creativity run free. And parents understand the true value of learning to read and write with something that is useful, simple and powered only by a kidu's own imagination. Here's a link to a video that will tell you exactly how to use your DoodleMark: http://www.yousendit.com/download/UFh2ZXR5SWVxRTAwTVE9PQ
(This one does take a little while to download. I will try to embed it if I can get the code).
My Take: Do these come in packs of two? LOL. My kids love them! We received the adorable lady bug DoodleMark. It has great vibrant colors and a cute little lady bug that helps "erase". As soon as I brought it out for my three year old to try it out, my two year old demanded his. They both have etch-a-sketch machines and love them so when they saw the DoodleMark they couldn't wait to see how it worked.
My daughter loved that she could put it on her book and then write her name on it when she got tired of reading. The little one just loved to hold it in his hands and draw on it. Forget the book, LOL. Now what does mommy think? I love it. It's a great way to combine reading and writing. We would read a page, pick a letter and then draw it on the DoodleMark. I also love that it's perfect for car trips. It's small and portable enough that she can read for a little bit and then write a little bit. They also have three of the cutest designs. I love it!
Downfalls? Well, the little drawing pad part is very sensitive. You really don't have to apply much pressure to write. Great for older kids but a little hard for heavy handed new writers. However, it has held up to my kids so that's a plus. Other than that I have no other complaints. Soon I will be buying a second one. I just need to wait until the little one gets a little older!!
