Cupcakes? Who said cupcakes? My family loves cupcakes. I actually think the kids like to make the cupcakes more than they like to eat them! That's why I love any kind of cupcake decorating ideas! I've tried the whole decorating with icing and I'm terrible! So when someone creates something to make it super easy to decorate cupcakes I'm all about it! Take for instance: Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves:
Invented by a busy mom of two, Roundabouts® Cupcake Sleeves are wraps for cupcakes that transform standard cupcakes into virtually anything. Using toppings easily found at a grocery or local party supply store, the decorative self-adhesive cupcake wrappers instantly transform cupcakes into popcorn tubs, gumball machine, sushi, and ice cream cones. The wraps are resistant to grease, are earth friendly, and wipe clean if things get a bit messy in the kitchen! They can even be washed and re-used, adhering a second time with a dab of frosting.
There are have 70+ Designs/Themes to choose from! You can even personalize, customize and have not only been featured on Rachel Ray Magazine, but are also proud winners of the Most Innovative Exhibitor Award at the 2010 July CA Gift Show in Los Angeles.
My Take: I was super excited to get these in the mail and then I actually misplaced them when we moved. Fortunately, my son found them and wanted to play with the dog (I had received the Roundabouts aptly named Darlin Dogs...you can see them in the picture above). I was so thrilled that I had my husband run out, get cake mix, frosting and OREO cookies (the only ingredients you needed to make these cute cupcakes.
So simple enough, we baked the cupcakes, I frosted the tops with cream cheese white frosting, stuck them in the fridge so the icing could get hard, pulled them out, put the roundabouts around them and stuck on the ears (half of cookie) with icing! They turned out super cute. Just look at my pictures!
What do I think overall of these? Well, they weren't as easy as I thought to use. It was actually easier to have one person hold the cupcake as you put the sleeve on it. And for some reason, the cupcake sleeve was bigger than my cupcake, however that could all be the fault of the baker (ME...lol). The cookie ears weren't that easy to put on either but I must have done an okay job because just look at my kiddos faces. They loved it and that's enough to put a smile on my face and make me want to buy more. My only problem is they come in a pack with only 1 dozen sleeves. Most cake mixes make 24 cupcakes. Yeah I know, just buy two...LOL!
Buy it: You can purchase the Darlin' Dogs or one of the other 70+ designs at Roundabout Sleeves. They retail for $8.99 for a dozen. I totally want to try the Margarita sleeves! They look perfect for a girl's night in party!
