Yes my son still sleeps with music during naptimes. He's easily distracted by sounds and noise around him so I have to drown it out with something and CDs were a lot cheaper than a white noise machine. So if you have a little one that you want some super cool lullaby music for then I have the perfect solution for you. Try Cradle Rock CDs.
“The ‘Cradle Rock' lullabies are unlike any other in the marketplace today, since we wanted to focus on iconic artists and albums that appeal to music fans across a wide variety of genres,” says Steve Jones, CEO of Brash Music. “Each project is produced with child and parent in mind, so the melodic structure and tempo of each song stays true to the original.” Jones says most lullaby releases are a collection of hits or compilations by various artists. “While some projects in the Cradle Rock series follow a compilation model, most are replications of entire albums in lullaby form. Additional Cradle Rock albums in development include U2’s " The Joshua Tree", Black Eyed Peas’ “Sleep-pea Hits” as well as lullaby albums inspired by Nickelback, Carrie Underwood and The Eagles to name a few.
My Take: I was super excited to try out these CDs. The case art is so cute. I mean you gotta love it, Kenny Chesney, Michael Jackson and Johnny Cash as mice or monkeys or whatever those creatures are. I don't even know but they are super cute! And I love the cases. They are just paper but the CD fits securely, deep inside a pocket when you open the front cover. Now as for the music. I have mixed opinions. First, I loved the songs. You could easily tell "Ring of Fire" from the jonny Cash CD, and then "Billie Jean" from the Michael Jackson CD. Sorry Kenny Chesney fans, I don't know any of his songs so I couldn't tell if they sounded the same but I'm sure they did! However, I wasn't really thrilled with the actual music rendition. I'm really into a whole orchestra or band playing the lullabies. However, there seems to only be one or two instruments for each song. It's not really my cup of tea but my son seems to like it and that's all that matters. The other thing I would suggest is putting your CD player on loop if you use it during naptime. The CDs are rather short ( I was unable to find the exact timing on the CD case) and there are only 9 or 10 songs on each CD. You might just want to chalk that last statement up to me being a lazy mom and I would have to agree...LOL. I'm used to the 2 hour lullaby CDs. Overall, if you want a change of music from the traditional lullabies I would suggest you give these CDs a try!
