I'm obsessed with books and I have my mom to thank for that. Whenever we went out shopping the one thing she would never say no to buying was a book. And that's why I ended up with a humongous library of books and a true love of reading. So it's no surprise that I am raising my kids the same way. Thanks to my love of blogging I'm able to build my kids' library and share some of the most wonderful book resources with you. Here's the latest and also one of my most favorites:
Little One Books! Barney and Joan McCoy are the owners of this company and they started the company because they understood how hard it can be to find quality and appropriate reading material for children at the different ages and stages of their lives. They "specialize in quality books, music, and video, for children birth through age five, and have personally reviewed and selected each and every item in the store." You'll find detailed information on why they prefer a particular product in the "Why We Chose" section of each product page.
My Take: When Little One Books contacted me about a review I was thrilled to oblige. As I mentioned before I love to read and now that I have kids, I love to read to them. It's also super cute to watch them "read" to me. My daughter is already like me, taking a book to bed with her every night!
What I love most about Little One Books is the huge variety of books they have. Many times I have visited these sites to only find lots of the old classics. Now don't get me wrong, I love the old classics but now there are lots of new books that are sure to be classics when our kids are adults. Little One Books has them all! As a matter of fact they are featuring one of my favorites: "If you give a mouse a cookie" on the home page!
Second, I love that it's not just books, don't let the name fool you. There are also videos and music for sale. You can shop by products or you can use my favorite search, by age! This is where I went to pick out the awesome book I chose for my kids. They are both big Disney fans, Big LuvBug thinks she is a Disney Princess (which of course in mommy's eyes she is) so I chose Walt Disney's Classic Storybook (pictured above). Now this is one of those read to your children books. It falls under books that are appropriate for 3 year olds and it's the perfect bedtime storybook. I actually read them parts of a story when I need them to quiet down, that is when I can pry it from my daughter's hands!
Third, on an educational note, this is a perfect site for teachers and/or school counselors. I know there were plenty of times I needed to recommend or point parents in the right direction for books that appropriate for their children. I remember that I learned about the Twilight series when a third grader shared the book with me. Sure it's great that you can read the words but is it appropriate content? NO! Unfortunately, Little One Books only goes to age 5 but you have to start somewhere!
